Weaver Campaign Moves Forward, Takes Challenge in Stride

Washington, D.C. – Last night Bryan Weaver learned the validity of his nominating petitions had been challenged by Seikou Biddle’s campaign.

“We expected there could be a challenge to our petitions, and it is part of the democratic process,” Weaver said. “I am confident that the incredibly hard work our volunteers did to collect signatures will withstand this challenge. In the meantime, I’ll continue focusing my efforts on the real issues in this campaign; I’ll fight for a city government that is about improving people’s lives, not politics.”

Weaver’s candidacy began as the grassroots “Draft Weaver” campaign, with Weaver entering the race just 28 days before the petition filing date. In the end he filed with approximately 3,500 signatures from all over the District.

Weaver issued a statement yesterday morning outlining how he would bring accountability to the Wilson building. The statement can be found at http://bryanweaverdc.com/2011/02/28/it-starts-with-accountability/.
